Are you looking for more opportunities for your child to play their instrument this summer?

Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony's Summer Strings Program is open to any string musician in the greater Springfield area with at least one year of playing experience. The program options consist of six week lessons and a one week camp.

Six Week Lessons

  • For musicians with approximately one to seven years of playing experience
  • Designed to solidify and advance technical skills
  • 45-minute group lessons each Tuesday evening with no lesson the week of July 4th
  • All lessons are held at the Hoogland Center for the Arts
  • Instructed by Mrs. Diane Turek and staff
  • Lesson Times:
    • 6:15-7:00pm  Starter Strings or one year of playing experience
    • 5:30-6:15pm  Junior Strings or two to three years of playing experience
    • 7:00-7:45pm  Preparatory Orchestras or three to five years of playing experience
    • 7:45-8:30pm  Sinfonia Orchestras or five to seven years of playing experience
  • Tuition: $45 - discounts available for enrolling in multiple programs!

Allegro Strings Camp

  • For string musicians with approximately one year of playing experience
  • Five days of fun and music making: including orchestra rehearsal, small group sectionals, technique class, enrichment classes, and mini-concerts given by advanced string players
  • Students will learn both popular and traditional orchestral pieces
  • July 23-27 Camp Schedule
    • 8:30-11:30am   
    • 11:00am on Friday - Final Concert
  • The camp is held at the Hoogland Center for the Arts
  • Instructed by Mrs. Diane Turek and staff
  • Tuition includes instruction, a camp t-shirt, daily snacks, an end-of-week concert, and a private pool party!
  • Tuition: $90 - discounts available for enrolling in multiple programs! 

VIVACE Strings Camp

  • For string musicians with approximately two to seven years of playing experience
  • Five days full of music making: including orchestra rehearsal, small group sectionals, technique class, enrichment classes, and mini-concerts given by advanced string players
  • Students will learn both popular and traditional orchestral pieces
  • July 23-27 Camp Schedule
    • 1:30-4:30pm
    • 4:00pm on Friday - Final Concert
  • The camp is held at Hoogland Center for the Arts 
  • Instructed by Mrs. Diane Turek and staff
  • Tuition includes instruction, a camp t-shirt, daily snacks, an end-of-week concert, and a private pool party!
  • Tuition: $90 - discounts available for enrolling in multiple programs!
