Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony is a comprehensive orchestra program comprised of five youth orchestras and one adult orchestra. Use the buttons below to choose which ensemble you or your child hope to enroll in for the coming season

REGISTRATION FOR STARTER STRINGS WILL OPEN AS SOON AS CLASS SITES ARE CONFIRMED.

Starter Strings is a string orchestra for students with no prior musical experience. Classes are offered at a variety of sites throughout Springfield. Tuition is $225 for approximately 30 weeks of 45-minute group lessons. For more information on this ensemble, click here

 

Junior Strings is a string orchestra for musicians that have completed Starter Strings or have approximately 1 year of playing experience. Musicians do not need to audition for this ensemble. Tuition is $250 for approximately 30 weeks of 1 hour orchestra rehearsals. For more information on this ensemble, click here

 

Preparatory Orchestra is a string orchestra for musicians with approximately 3-4 years of playing experience. This ensemble requires an audition. Tuition is $250 for approximately 30 weeks of 1 hour orchestra rehearsals. For more information on this ensemble, click here

 

Sinfonia Orchestra is a string orchestra for musicians with approximately 5-7 years of playing experience. This ensemble requires an audition. Tuition is $300 for approximately 30 weeks of 1.5 hour orchestra rehearsals. For more information on this ensemble, click here

 

Youth Symphony is a full symphonic orchestra for musicians with approximately 7+ years of playing experience. This ensemble requires an audition. Audition materials are available at the end of registration. Tuition is $350 for approximately 30 weeks of 2 hour orchestra rehearsals. For more information on this ensemble, click here

Sangamon Valley Civic Orchestra is a symphonic orchestra for musicians with prior experience that play strings, woodwind, brass, or percussion and have graduated high school. An audition may be required and will be at the conductor's discretion.
