Community Orchestra History in Springfield
The Springfield Civic Orchestra was founded 1932 and flourished as a non-professional orchestra for several years. Later, the orchestra became professionalized and many of the original amateur community members no longer participated. The new Sangamon Valley Community Orchestra is re-establishing the tradition of a thriving amateur orchestra in the Springfield area!
The orchestra will resume rehearses at the Hoogland Center for the Arts on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Please come play with us!
