Concert Orchestra Tours Four Local Grade Schools
On May 12, Maestro Haglund led the SVYS Concert Orchestra on an educational and entertaining set of performances at four different Springfield grade schools. The orchestra visited Wilcox Elementary School and Fairview Elementary School in the morning, and Lincoln Magnet School and St. Joseph School after lunch. Maestro Haglund gave the students at each school an overview of the orchestral ensemble, with several musicians demonstrating their instruments. Parent volunteers provided transportation and lunch to the musicians. This yearly event is partially sponsored by the Illinois Arts Council and the Springfield Area Arts Council. |
