SVYS Musicians Demonstrate Instruments at ISO "Sneakers And Jeans" Concert

On Sunday, March 7, the Springfield Center for the Arts was filled with eager parents and children waiting for the Illinois Symphony Orchestra's "Sneakers And Jeans" concert to begin. In the lobby, several SVYS musicians were busy giving the kids a chance for some hands-on time with real instruments.

The volunteers were: Melissa Cloyd, Violin; Kaiti Jorgensen, Clarinet; Jenny Krah, Flute; Damien Kaplan, Timpani; Anna Massie, Bassoon; Rebekah Petter and Meredith Elston, Oboes; and Rachel Petter, Horn. The ISO provided cat ears, wolf tails, and other costume items to celebrate the theme of the concert, "Peter and The Wolf."

Thanks to the SVYS members who helped put a smile on the children's faces and introduced them to the joys of music making.
