SVYS Concerto Competition Winners to Perform at Spring Concert

Rebecca is a junior at Glenwood High School. Her private instructor is Krista Steller, principal oboist with Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. Rebecca has also received additional coaching with Jennet Ingle, principal oboist with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and Western Illinois University professor Michael Ericson. Honors received this year include participation in the IMEA District Orchestra and All-State Honors Orchestra; first chair oboist in both the Western Illinois University Honors Band and Bradley University Honors Band; and recipient of two “Best of the Day” Awards at this year’s IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest.
Rebecca will play the Concerto in C Major for Oboe, Hob.VIIg:C1, 1st Movement, by Franz Joseph Haydn.
Lydeah Negro

Lydeah, a High Honors freshman at Sacred Heart Griffin, has been studying flute for the past five years and has been taught by Debbie Eddy. She is a two-time winner of the Junior Soloist WUIS Competition, a three-time recipient of the Illinois Symphony Guild of Springfield Scholarships, and the first-place winner in the High School category at the Jacksonville Symphony’s “The Talent Among Us” 2006 Competition. Lydeah has also been studying the piano for eight years and has earned two Gold Cups from the IFMC. She cares for all kinds of animals (including her various pets) and enjoys swimming, hiking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her entire family.
Lydeah will play the Concerto for Flute in D Major, 1st Movement, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
