Sangamon Valley Community Orchestra
Inaugural Concert
Wednesday, May 17, 2006, 7:30 p.m.

Springfield, IL 62701
Join us for the inaugural concert of the new adult Sangamon Valley Community Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Richard Haglund.
Community Orchestra History in Springfield
The Springfield Civic Orchestra was founded 1932 and flourished as a non-professional orchestra in this area until 1980, when the Springfield Symphony Orchestra was formed under the directorship of Kenneth Keisler. As the orchestra became professionalized many of the original amateur community orchestra members were no longer able to participate. The new Sangamon Valley Community Orchestra, founded this year, hopes to re-establish the tradition of a thriving adult amateur orchestra in our community.
The Sangamon Valley Community Orchestra is funded entirely by donations from its members and community patrons. There is no admission charge for the concert, and concertgoers will be able to make a free-will donation at the door. For more information, please call 753-8000.
