VIOLIN AND PIANO DUO PRESENT BENEFIT RECITAL

Violinist  Michael Antonello and pianist/composer Peter Arnstein from Minneapolis will present a benefit recital for the Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony on Saturday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hoogland Center for the Arts, 420 S. 6th St. , Springfield .

Antonello and Arnstein have performed together for nearly 20 years and have made three appearances at the Edinburg Festival.  In the fall of 2007, they presented concerts in Italy , the Czech Republic , and Rumania as well as a London debut.

Michael Antonello trained at Curtis in Philadelphia and has performed with the Rochester Symphony in Minnesota , the Grand Rapids Symphony, and the Minnesota Orchestra.  He has become a specialist in the works of Fritz Kreisler, and is well on his way to recording Kreisler’s complete works.  Antonello will be playing a Stradivarius violin made in 1720 when Stradivari was 76 years old and at his peak.

Dr. Arnstein teaches piano and composition at the St. Paul  Conservatory and has won prizes in various national and international piano competitions.  In 1992, he won Gold Medal in all categories at the

Roodepoort International Composition Competition for his Orchestral Variations on a Theme by Mozart.
