Concerto Competition Winners to Perform at SVYS Spring Concert

Brendan Finnell, son of Roger and Julie Finnell, is a junior at Sacred-Heart Griffin High School. He has been a piano student of Sr. Francis Mary Phillip for 11 years and has earned his Silver Cross Award along with a “Best of the Day” award in 2010 for piano in the IHSA music competition.  He has played piano for many stage productions, including SHG musicals, Abe the Musical at Theater in the Park, and will be playing piano for Guys and Dolls at the Muni this summer.  Along with music, he is an Honors student at SHG and is involved in cross-country, track, and Boy Scouts.  He will be featured soloist for the Grieg Piano Concerto, 1st Movement.

C. Tommy Negro, son of Bill and Lori Negro, has been studying cello since the age of seven.  He also plays the piano and is an Honor-Roll student at St. Agnes School.  In his spare time, Tommy raises chickens and sells his beautiful eggs to a select few.  Each summer Tommy escapes to Alaska where he catches wild salmon and trains for the upcoming cross-country season.  Tommy will be the cello soloist for Tarantella by David Popper.
